The Internet - changed our future

The internet has broadened our horizons in most aspects of our lives including giving us the ability to communicate instantaneously with anyone and just about anywhere.  The internet has allowed us to bridge the divide that has existed by bringing us closer together globally and allowing us to collaborate among diverse cultures.  The internet is summed up in this statement by stating that: “The Internet is at once a world-wide broadcasting capability, a mechanism for information dissemination, and a medium for collaboration and interaction between individuals and their computers without regard for geographic location (Leiner, 2012).

The impact that the internet has had on the health care field is explained as a transformation: “Medicine and Health Synergistic discoveries and instant scientific collaborations between researchers working on areas as diverse as hereditary neurologic diseases and the basic biology of microorganisms all happening thanks to the Internet” (Kedem, 1999); the business field is given a future outlook: “This is a field that all experts say will grow and advance greatly in the years to come, not just in the United States but in other countries around the world too” (Kedem, 1999); and the field of education allows for more exciting learning opportunities as this text says: “A topic that could be very dry and bookish, took on an exciting life of its own, with the help of the excitement that exists with the use of the of the Internet” (Kedem, 1999).
The many advances the internet has provided us in many areas is an ever growing, ever expanding arena and the possibilities are endless.  One example is this essay, I am in college on-line I do all my research, discussions, posts, collaborations, reading and writing over the internet; this innovative media technology has streamlined higher education.  Another example is the business industry; in the past ten years the internet has revolutionized the way we do business as organizations.  Through collaborative efforts and team meetings we can now communicate globally and maximize benefits of other countries.  By using laptops and iPads, team meetings via conference calls, video and teleconferencing and trainings through web-ex and live meetings, coupled with instant messaging, e-mail, and iPhones or Blackberry’s; to the use of Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office applications; along with the collaborative efforts of Google we can call a meeting at any time, train on new products country wide, collaborate with team members globally and solve a customer’s issue instantaneously through a team of experts through a touch of button.  The internet has brought many possibilities to life and this is just the beginning.
